The Roanoke Heart Institute is one of the few regional centers that is certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories for both myocardial perfusion imaging and equilibrium radionuclide angiography (MUGA.) Accreditation status signifies that our facility has been reviewed by an independent agency that recognizes our laboratory’s commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease. We have a full exercise and pharmacological stress testing program with convenient scheduling.

"Cardiolite" tests are available
for standard stress and rest imaging to detect coronary artery disease. However,
we also offer exams with Thallium, and “MUGA” exams for exacting quantitative
measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction. Our new Cardio MD nuclear camera from
Philips/ADAC defines the state of the art and is less massive than older models,
reducing patient anxiety.
